As the U.S. wheat industry digests the newly released Dietary Guidelines for Americans, leaders are weighing in on the role wheat will play in the nation’s diets.

At Commodity Classic in San Antonio, Texas, Jamie Kress, President of the National Association of Wheat Growers, explains what the guidelines mean for growers and consumers alike.

Kress emphasizes that whole grains and enriched, fortified wheat products still have an important place in daily meals—especially for children. “Wheat remains a vital source of nutrition, and we want to make sure it continues to be part of healthy diets,” she said.

To support that goal, NAWG plans to actively promote wheat’s role in balanced nutrition, ensuring that Americans can continue to enjoy the benefits of whole grains and enriched wheat products as part of their daily routines.
