In some fresh brewed ag news, India is ready for a breakout moment with California almonds. According to the Almond Board of California, the market is primed for accelerated growth. Dr. Amitoj Singh of Boston Consulting Group pointed to strong economic momentum and shifting consumer preferences as key forces driving opportunity in the region.

Indian consumers are increasingly drawn to health and wellness, premium experiences, natural and sustainable choices, and convenient formats. Almonds fit seamlessly into all of it. Today, almonds and almond products show up across a wide range of categories, from bakeries and cafés to local sweet shops, ice cream, breads and cereals, and even hair and skin care. That versatility highlights just how deeply almonds are woven into everyday life.

To unlock what’s next, Singh and his team focused on building consumer excitement, educating product developers, engaging government and food science institutions, and collaborating with food service partners. That approach is already brewing results. A recent partnership with a leading Indian coffee chain generated more than 30 ideas, with 10 now moving into development. Proof that sometimes, the best big ideas start with a great cup of coffee.
