Football, Farming, and Southern Pride Collide in Statesboro
College football fans, get ready for one big southern showdown. The Georgia Grown Bowl is back! This year’s game kicks off Saturday, October 18th at 7 p.m. at Allen E. Paulson Stadium in Statesboro, where Georgia State and Georgia Southern will battle for the Commissioner’s Cup.So why is this making agriculture news? Before kickoff, the fun begins at 3 p.m. with the Georgia Grown Farmers Market, featuring local vendors, fresh foods, and handmade goods from across the region. It’s a chance to celebrate local farms and flavors while gearing up for game time.
According to the Georgia Department of Agriculture, the event shines a spotlight on farming, the state’s top industry, which drives more than $91 billion in economic impact every year. Using a stage this large to showcase agriculture connects fans from all walks of life to the people and products that feed them. As Commissioner Tyler Harper put it, “Like agriculture bridges the gap between rural and urban Georgia, athletics connects fans in every corner of our state and beyond.”
