Regenerative farming practices are being talked about from the farm coffee shops to the agribusiness boardrooms. But does this farming approach focused on soil health, just resemble the way things used to be done? Syngenta Group CEO Jeff Rowe says we can combine age old principles with modern science and technology to reach new possibilities in agriculture.
Rowe… “ There's absolutely some things from the way we kind of "used to farm" that I think are informative to how we think about farming moving forward. So I would accept that. But there's also some things about the way we used to farm that don't make practical sense anymore. We have a lot more knowledge, we have a lot more technology. I don't understand when people tell me that the way we farmed a hundred years ago should be the model full stop. We've made tremendous advancements in science, innovation, and to reject advancements in science \ and innovation because of what I consider to be a romantic view of the past. , I don't accept that. So to me, it's about blending the two. It's about being able to kind of understand what is important, and that can be very much informed by the past, but also what's possible.”
