USA Today says this comes days after the administration reinstated workplace raids at ag operations.

Trump says we can’t put farms out of business. We’re looking at doing something where good and reputable farmers can take responsibility for the people they hire. At the same time, we don’t want to hurt people who are not criminals.

**A USDA report says May egg output dropped year over year, as did the number of total egg layers in the U.S.

Production fell to 8.59 billion eggs last month, down 6% year over year.

About 7.3 billion were table eggs, and 1.29 billion were hatching eggs.

USDA also said the number of egg layers on June 1 totaled 350 million, also a 6% drop from the same date last year.

**For the second straight week, the nation’s average gas price has increased, rising 9.7 cents from last week, now at $3.18 per gallon.

The national average is unchanged from a month ago and is 23.3 cents per gallon lower than a year ago.

GasBuddy’s Patrick DeHaan says with Israel and Iran trading attacks, oil prices have continued to climb.

He says average diesel prices recorded their largest weekly jump since August 2023.
