One of the benefits of artificial intelligence is that it can be customized to fit the needs of an individual or business. At Syngenta Group, the company created an AI tool called CropWise AI to empower its agronomists with data. Feroz Sheikh, chief information and digital officer says having clear insights frees up their time to advise more growers effectively.
Sheikh… “The idea behind CropWise AI is actually driven by a similar mindset. We believe that this is about a business strategy in cases where we want to make sure that the agronomist and the advisor build that kind of a trusted relationship with the grower. The advisor or the agronomist, they have their expertise and the AI will probably take a long time before it even comes close to the kind of expertise that they have. But what it can do is give them all the data at their fingertips. And make it very easy to query into that data. So if the agronomist is going and visiting a farm and they can just query using the AI, what has been the history? What did these guys do two weeks back? What is the weather forecast next two weeks? And so on. The recommendations that then the AI generates or the agronomist generates is very validated. What it does is it increases the amount of acres or growers that the agronomist can advise. So where in the past if there was one advisor who was advising 10 growers, the same advisor will now be able to advise 50 growers or 100 growers.”
