The California Farm Bureau recently celebrated its 106th Annual Meeting in Monterey, highlighting leadership changes across the state. Three new members were elected to the California Farm Bureau Board of Directors, while seven others retained their seats, ensuring a mix of fresh perspectives and continuity in serving California agriculture.

Richard Schmid, a beekeeper from Homeland, joins the board with extensive experience as a longtime member and past president of the Riverside County Farm Bureau. Schmid has also contributed significantly to the Rural Health and Safety Committee.

Steve Kafka, a forester from Avery, steps into a leadership role with years of service as chairman of the Forestry/Public Lands Committee and as past president of the Calaveras County Farm Bureau. A graduate of Leadership Farm Bureau, Kafka brings a strong commitment to sustainable land management.

Martin Spannaus, a hay farmer and cattle rancher from Corning, adds his voice to the board. As a past president and current board member of the Tehama County Farm Bureau, Spannaus continues to advocate for the needs of farmers and ranchers.

Each will serve two-year terms, supporting the Farm Bureau’s mission to promote California agriculture.
