As sunflower harvest wraps up and we roll into the new year, Executive Director of the National Sunflower Association, John Sandbakken, and gives an update on harvest prices and consumer demand for this past year. I

"I think harvest went really well. You know, we didn't have a lot of delays this year. Overall, I would say most states, you know, we were headed about a week, maybe 10 days ahead of normal. You know, as far as harvest goes and yields look good, quality looks excellent in most cases. And so I'd say we have a nice crop. It's much lower than we had last year. We had a reduction in our acres, but overall, what was harvested looks really nice."

Sandbakken reports that there were shockingly, no surprises.

"Actually. The biggest surprise is that in the northern plains states, you know, where our planting was a little bit later than normal, you know, we had kind of a late spring, and then we a little bit of rain, and so I'd slow things down, so the crop was kind of behind, and as far as its development, and so we were a little bit concerned about that. But, you know, man, we had some really warm weather in September, October, and things caught up. And actually we ended up getting ahead of normal, getting done harvested. So turned out great."

Once again, that was John Sandbakken He is the Executive Director of the National Sunflower Association, reporting for the line on agriculture report here today. I'm Lorrie Boyer, thank you for tuning in, and I wish you a very Merry Christmas.
