They've come from around the world to talk about this state's most famous crop, potatoes. More than 900 potato experts, growers, processors and scientists are in Boise for the 6th Annual World Potato Congress. It's the first time the congress has come to the United States. After a rousing welcome from Frank Muir of the Idaho Potato Commission with the help of the Boise State marching band, the delegates got into discussions about the potato industry in developing countries. There are more than 41 countries that are represented here.

And today at the World Potato Congress there will be two tracks, one for those interested in industry issues like grower co-ops, seed potatoes and human nutrition."
The science track will look at worldwide pest problems, disease forecasting, soil health and storage technology. Tomorrow, the opening ceremonies for the three day farm show in Wilder.
