Fun talks this week in your Southeast Regional Ag News! Everyone likes to chat litigation, right? When it comes to agricultural law, Director of the Ag Law Center Harrison Pittman says there are four topics of note for 2024. Firstly, the Endangered Species Act and Waters of the U.S. You can find out more on those fronts via our website, AgInfo.NET.

As we continue to cover the topic, today’s discussion is slightly less familiar: California’s Proposition 12…

“The third one that would be important to watch is the fallout in the wake of the Supreme Court's decision on Proposition 12, which is the California animal welfare law that basically opened the door up to the degree to which they might be able to regulate what would otherwise often be considered commerce that would otherwise be left in the U.S. Congress to regulate. So, I think that could spawn a lot of legislative proposals, both agricultural-related and non-agricultural-related, and probably will since we're coming into sessions around the country. Now that we're getting into January, I'd expect that to pick up.”

There’s one more day left in this week’s feature. Tomorrow’s focus will be the trendiest topic yet. Harrison Pittman, director of the Ag Law Center, will join us to hash out foreign land ownership. That’s coming up tomorrow right here on the Ag Information Network.
