Grey Montgomery, Senior Vice President and head of agriculture products and operations at DTN says that the company has gotten into the agriculture sustainability space with a new product called EcoField. According to DTN.com, agribusinesses and green traders can tap into ecofuel data to help support and expand sustainable farming practices.

“We basically start with a list of farmers that exist across the US and their practices, and then ultimately can help agribusinesses identify those farmers and their practices as it relates to sustainability purposes. So if you are an ag retailer, and you need to know where you know farmers practices farmers have in your area, because you're looking to help them either for the benefit of their carbon credit program or just want to help for other reasons ESG reporting purposes or scope three emissions reporting purposes. Whatever.”

EcoField data will be generated from the Farm Service Agency, DTN, and their partner Kinetic. Montgomery says that farmers can use EcoField technology to verify sustainability practices, including the use of inputs that impact carbon emissions, soil health, and water conservation. These are farmer investments that he says can result in the farmers getting paid a premium under the auspices of a climate-smart farming program. Tomorrow, Montgomery will talk about detailed receiving a climate-smart grant and what that means to farmers.
