On a guided hunt in Wyoming, the outfitter puts BILL AGLER, lying on his belly within 515 yards of a cactus buck. BILL's shot is lined up. Speaker2: In a prone position. The crosshairs right behind his shoulder. I'm totally stable and I tell myself, okay, I don't know about this, but I'll give it a shot. I squeeze the trigger and he says, You hit him. Turns out I hit him. But it was a non-lethal hit. The deer started moving downhill, and luckily he started moving in the direction that I had come. And I said, okay, well, let's get in another position. So we got in another position as he's coming down this way and he's going to come across this very small clearing and he stops and at that point he's 200 yards away. All I can see is his head and his neck. The outfitter says, Well, here, take my tripod with the spotting scope and lean on the top of that because I couldn't get down on the ground because we were in heavy sagebrush. I don't like to do that because that's not really stable, and 200 yards is far away. I got in that direction. I put my gun on top of his tripod with the scope. I've got a shot, but all I've got is his head and his neck at 200 yards. Not totally stable, but if I don't shoot now, he's going to be gone. So I figured, okay, I'll do the best I can. So I took a breath and let it out and just squeeze the trigger and bam, deer goes down. He said, Okay, cool. We walk the 200 yards over there and there is a deer laying there missing something important. Speaker1: We'll find out what tomorrow.
