P&E
Putting consumers, those who eat the food we produce in Idaho, together with producers meaning farmers and ranchers of Idaho is one of the missions for the states promotion and education. Alan Clark, P&E State Chair, and Stacy Burmester, a member of the State P&E Committee, describe what Promotion and Education is, and what it is all about.Sometimes we look around and we're like, Man, maybe our operation isn't necessarily the ideal operation, but really what is an ideal operation? All of our operations are so unique and we have a perspective that can help the consumers or just non farmers that are out there. Most families are 2 to 3 generations removed from the farm and they just don't realize all that we do to provide food for them. Speaker3: You see more and more people growing gardens. You see more and more people just doing chickens or little things like that. Speaker2: As I've had the opportunity to serve on the American Farm Bureau Promotion Education Committee, I've been able to travel across the country and see the different way that people farm. How I raise alfalfa here in Idaho is a little different than they raise it in Michigan or how cattle are raised in the Midwest versus here. Speaker3: Most people wouldn't know this, but 96% of our farms are family owned. I think that's really important. Promotion and education would bring the farms so that they could see it. I would like to see more of our YouTube videos on our family farms. Speaker1: In order to promote and educate the public.
