Dean Dryden, Valley-Adams Farm Bureau president, tells how they bring agriculture and farming to teach elementary aged children. Teaching from crops to beef by-products, children get familiarized with the basics of what the farmers in Idaho do.

We conduct every year with the schools in both Adams and Valley County. A program called Ranchers Feeding Youth. We are trying to show the kids in elementary grades what ranchers and farmers do to benefit the world and the people on it, from raising food to taking care of our earth, our lands, those types of things, and of course, the animals. Speaker1: Here's Dave Veselka, County board member. Speaker2: I only have about three classes. We have one that's. Speaker3: A production class that's on the production of cows and calves. We have a class that is on beef byproducts, and it talks all about everything from medication to shoes to baseball gloves. There's a lot of different beef components and everything. And the beef byproducts are actually so extensive that it almost makes the meat itself a byproduct. Speaker2: And want them to know that farmers and ranchers are stewards of our lands. Speaker1: What a great message.
