Planting has begun here in the southeast. How can you maximize your herbicide investment? This is exactly what I talked about recently with Wesley Hutson. He is a Product Manager with Helena Agri-Enterprises, LLC…

“It all kind of starts with a good pre-emergence herbicide application. That’s what going to lay the foundation for effective weed management throughout the season. But to really maximize those results, you need to include the right adjuvant in the tank and I think that’s something that often gets overlooked. But an adjuvant with pre-emergence is what’s going to help keep that soil-applied chemistry in the upper part of the soil profile where it’s most effective.”

How do you know if you’re choosing the right one?

“In my opinion, it’s best to go with an adjuvant that’s multifunctional. From Helena, we always recommend our adjuvant Grounded to be paired with pre-emergence herbicides because it can provide the soil deposition you need to keep that pre-emergence herbicide in the weed kill zone along with drift control as well as compatibility. And Grounded is a proven adjuvant, it’s an oil-based adjuvant that we’ve relied on for over 20 years with Helena. It can help you increase the length of residual weed control by reducing leaching of pre-emergence herbicides, basically with some of the heavier rains that we’re getting like we are right now. And it also helps keep that herbicide on target and improve spray mix uniformity.”
