Hort Show 2022 Pt 1
From the Ag Information Network, I’m Bob Larson with today’s Fruit Grower Report. As they do every about this time, folks from the tree fruit industry are making plans to attend the Washington State Tree Fruit Association’s Annual Meeting, better known as the Hort Show, coming up December 5-7 in Wenatchee. And WSTFA President, Jon DeVaney says it should be a good one …
DeVANEY … “Well, I think it’s going to be exciting to have everyone back in person. Last year, in Yakima, we had an in-person meeting, but there were still a lot of restrictions required by the state to verify vaccination status and with the Delta variant floating out there, some people were still hesitant to get out in-person. So, our attendance was a little bit down from average even though we had some great content.”
This year’s meeting, DeVaney says will focus on team work …
DeVANEY … “This year our theme is ‘Stronger Together’ and it really emphasizes the strength that we have as an industry when all segments of the tree fruit industry are working together to solve problems and address challenges.”
And those problems and challenges, DeVaney says will be a big part of the discussions …
DeVANEY … “Really having everyone back in-person, on site, with more vendors and more participants is a great opportunity to network and really develop new ideas, new partnerships from everyone else in the industry. It’s both an informational and a networking event that adds a lot of value to everyone who participates.”
