Kubota to Make $140 Million Investment in Georgia

A $140 million investment into northeast Georgia plus the creation of 500 new jobs. That’s the news that recently came from Japanese equipment maker, Kubota.

Kubota Corp. announced last week that it’ll be building a new factory in Gainesville specifically dedicated to the construction of front-end loaders. Currently they are already making the product at a facility in nearby Jefferson but wanted to free up capacity at the existing site.

While construction is set to start here in 2022, the new factory isn’t slated to officially be open for business until 2024.

According to the Associated Press, Kubota opened a $90 million research and development facility in Gainesville in April, which will eventually employ 200. The company told local news outlets that the new 650,000-square-foot facility will be located across a state highway from that facility.

Vice President of Kubota Manufacturing of America, Phil Sutton, explained that they currently do not have the facilities to meet customer demand expanding to say that North America is currently their biggest market.

The 500 new workers will be in addition to the 3,000 they already employ in the region.
