With today’s Fruit Grower Report, I’m Bob Larson. Podcasting is catching on for more media outlets, including the Washington State Tree Fruit Association.

The latest edition of their podcast, Bearing Fruit is out and takes listeners to the Washington Apple Education Foundation to visit with the outgoing Executive Director Jennifer Witherbee, who is retiring, and her replacement, Dr. Faviola Barbosa who brings a lot of experience to the job …

BARBOSA … “I have worked with higher education at three different community colleges, both on the student services side and the instructional side of the house, and I feel that that provides me a very good foundation for WAEF.”

Barbosa says the transition has been smooth …

BARBOSA … “That is going great. We have an amazing team here. Every day I am just in awe about their ability to do so much with so little. And, I’m just proud of the team and I’m glad to be a part of it.”

The memories, Witherbee says are many …

WITHERBEE … “It’s been an amazing journey. And it has been fun to think back through that, you know, when I started at WAEF, really, the challenge was just to make sure that we were going to keep going.”

And, Witherbee says the emotions …

WITHERBEE … “I thought the decision part was going to be the hard part, but it’s continued to be emotional for all of these last six months. So, it was an emotional decision and continues to be.”
