Walla Walla Valley Wine Month Pt 3
With today’s Fruit Grower Report, I’m Bob Larson. April is here and so is the second annual edition of Walla Walla Valley Wine Month, a month of activities designed to bring Walla Walla Valley wines to you in many different ways, both live and online. But why April?
I asked Shelby Pryor, with the Walla Walla Valley Wine Alliance, that very question …
PRYOR … “So when we were like, you know, we want a month to celebrate and really dig in to, you know, what makes Walla Walla Valley wine so special. And so, when we were looking at the calendar, April just made sense to us because March is Taste Washington Wine Month and May is Oregon Wine Month.”
And for the Walla Walla AVA, Pryor says, it just seemed to fit …
PRYOR … “As a cross-border AVA, we’re located in Washington and Oregon, so we thought it made sense that we would go in between the two wine months.”
And, Pryor says April is just an amazing time of year in the Walla Walla Valley …
PRYOR … “The sun starts to shine, it feels like the world is waking up a little bit, and it really just kind of marks the beginning of a lot of different aspects of the wine experience.”
So, for everything going on during Walla Walla Valley Wine Month, get online …
PRYOR … “Yes, absolutely! Get on line! The big ways to participate are, you know, purchasing wine from wineries. You know, if you’re coming to Walla Walla, setting up some tastings and engaging with some people in the tasting room. In addition, you know, engaging on social media as well, sharing what you’re drinking at home.”
