Boise based student Oliver McDonald, is just the kind of kid we all need more of. Rather than playing video games, he goes to science fairs with science projects. He was interested in looking into the contribution of macrofauna which are basically worms in the soil. “it was a science project that originally was to observe the effects that macrofauna had on plant growth and macrofauna are smaller insects that we normally leave in the soiled because as kids we are told they are great for boosting the nutrients in soil. I wondered whether macrofauna are as good, less good or better for the soil then man-made fertilizers. It turns out that the macrofauna are better for the soil . Visible to the naked eye; not microscopic. macrofauna or macrofaunas. Macroscopic animals of soil or benthic sediments that are greater than about 1 or 2 millimeters in size, such as earthworms
