Yesterday, we learned that Idaho Farm Bureau reporter Jake Putnam, then a television reporter in Boise, Idaho, went to cover a Fourth of July parade up near Sun Valley. He ended up interviewing Buzz Aldrin.

“Come to find out that he wrote the book on navigating in lunar orbits. So all this pre-Apollo stuff that they had to know, he already knew it. He wrote the manual. So we're sitting there talking and of course, I'm asking. So when you stepped out there, what did it look like and he was telling me that there's absolutely no color on the moon. It's just shades of gray. Very, very bright because of the sunlight where they were. But it was just gray. But he says if you look up 25 degrees straight above your head, you could see the earth. And it was just beautiful. Four times bigger, he said, than the way that we look at the moon, four times bigger. So it was just fascinating. The tapes had sat there in my Farm Bureau office for probably at least 25 years. I mean, they were in a drawer. I opened up the drawer. I see Buzz tapes. And I was thinking. Buzz… Buzz Aldrin. Sure enough, pop the tape in and there's about a 40 minute interview with him on this tape. Which gave you a real buzz, which gave me a buzz because I'm sitting here thinking in two weeks is the anniversary. Right? How weird is it to stumble across these tapes? It was just meant to be. So if you want to look at it, go to YouTube, Google, Buzz Aldrin and you will find my interview. It's sitting there out of this world.
