The Idaho Farm Bureau's Jake Putnam chatted with me about an out of this world encounter that he had. “So, Jake, you did a discovery back when you were in television, I guess, and you found some astronaut tapes, the lost tapes. Explain that?

The lost tapes. So anyway, I was a reporter a few years back. And this interview I get called to go to Hailey, Idaho, to do the Fourth of July parade. And they didn't even know who the marshal was. So I show up and it was July 4th, 1995, and the parade marshal was Buzz Aldrin. Are you kidding?

Buzz Aldrin, the astronaut? Yeah. So the desk didn't say anything about Buzz Aldrin. They just said go cover the parade. Well, when I see Buzz Aldrin, I wandered right over there and he had this throng of kids around him. And he was explaining to them the whole process of lunar days and nights how long a lunar day is in overnight. And the kids were just hanging on. He was so cool. And I just patiently waited. And then I said, Mr. Aldrin, if you have time, can I talk to you? And he goes, Sure. And we started talking. Couldn't have been a nicer guy. Unbelievable guy.

The one thing if you had the chance to meet this guy is that he is so incredibly intelligent. I later went and did my homework on him and found out that he had Ph.D. in physics from M.I.T.” More tomorrow.
