WA Wine Convention Pt 2
The Association's Katlyn Straub says this year's theme, "Intentional from Grape to Glass" is all about intentionality and the sessions address every aspect of wine making and marketing ...
STRAUB ... "So, we have Joe Cotta from Ste. Michelle and Sadie Drury from North Slope Management. They're leading a session and it's called 'Forging Ahead Profitably During a Labor Shortage.' It's on Wednesday and they're going to have different growers share their experiences with responding to the labor shortage and how their operations address solutions based on their specific needs and capacities. And so, there'll be a panel session. Washington State University's Extension Specialist, Michell Moyer is going to be leading that panel and they'll cover not only their experiences, but H-2A, mechanization, how to do labor contracts, wages and more."
And, she says another of the hot topics this year is Rose ...
STRAUB ... "We have a master sommelier from New York coming to do our Grand Tasting on rose. There's a session called intentional rose led by Barnard Griffin's Megan Hughes. They'll be looking at the global market. Mike Veseth will be there talking about the global market for rose since it's one of those varietals that's just really grown and they just want to look at what are viticulture decisions for rose. Lacey Lybeck will talk about that."
