Bourdain Thumbs-down to Alt-Meat and CPI/PPI Up
From the Ag Information Network, I'm Bob Larson with your Agribusiness Update.**At least one prominent chef has given a thumbs-down to the alt-meat product Impossible Burger. Celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain admits he loathes vegans, but worse, he's never even eaten one.
As reported on agweb.com, the outspoken and often controversial Bourdain acknowledged he hasn't tried the Impossible Burger, but understands the product's appeal saying 'if it's a means providing must-needed protein to people who need it, I guess I'm all for it.'

**The Consumer Price Index and Producer Price Index are forecasting a 6-to-7 percent increase in egg prices for consumers this year and a 36-to-37 percent increase for producers.
But, the reports also project a jump in consumer dairy prices by 0.5 to 1.5 percent while forecasting a 4-to-5 percent drop in farm-level milk prices and a 3-to-4 percent decline in wholesale dairy prices.
American Farm Bureau Federation economist John Newton tells Agri-Pulse the higher egg price came as no surprise, given robust export demand and reduced supply due to a bird-flu outbreak in South Korea.

**Bayer acknowledged Russian antitrust authorities have approved its proposed $57 billion acquisition of Monsanto on the condition the German company transfers certain technologies to Russians.
The approval brings Bayer a step closer toward achieving its goal of acquiring Monsanto, which it first announced in 2016.
Bayer has received conditional approval from the European Commission but is still waiting to hear from the U.S. Department of Justice.
