This is your Northwest report for Friday, December 23 I'm David Sparks and I hope you are in the holiday spirit and looking forward to Santa coming down your chimney with lots of gifts and toys for your children. We all know that Santa is real, but how did he get his start? Historical expert Ann Eflund tells us that St. Nicholas is real. "There was a real St. Nicholas was a Bishop of Asia Minor in the fourth century. The legend is that he was a patron of children and also the patron saint of sailors and although many cultures have a Santa Claus figure or have adopted St. Nicholas, it was the Dutch who really created the Santa Claus that we know in America." But this same necklace didn't have any Rudolph or Donner or Blitzen, he had a donkey. But who cares as long as he delivered presents to children.

Merry Christmas to all and come tomorrow night when you're tucked into bed, May visions of sugar plums dancing your head.
