Commodity crop production in the United States continues to demonstrate improved environmental outcomes in energy use efficiency, irrigation water use efficiency, greenhouse gas emissions, land use efficiency, and soil conservation, while opportunities exist for key advancements into the future.

That's according to Field to Market's interpretation of the third edition of the 2016 National Indicators Report.

Overall, the report finds promising results for the sustainability of commodity agriculture, with all crops demonstrating improved environmental outcomes with nearly every key indicator.

After tapping Montana Representative Ryan Zinke as Interior Secretary, it looks like the highest-ranking female Republican in Congress won't be joining the Trump administration and will remain in the House.

Washington state Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers had been considered the front-runner.

The No. 4 House Republican leader posted on Facebook Tuesday that she was honored to spend time with the President-elect but is eager to get back to work.
