Regional Weekly Hay Report

Here is USDA Grain and Livestock Reporter Greg Sanders with the Columbia Basin Hay report from last week.

Sanders: "We had 1,500 tons of hay trade. Compared to last Friday all grades of export and domestic alfalfa was steady in a light test. Supreme mid-square alfalfa bales sold for $150 a ton. Good mid-square export bales sold for $135 per ton. Timothy grass small bales for the export market on supreme quality sold for $200 per ton."

In Idaho compared the previous week all grades of alfalfa steady in a light test. Trade remains slow with very light demand. Mid squares of alfalfa rated rated premium sold for $110 per ton with rain damage.

In Oregon prices trended generally steady compared to the previous week. Recent dry weather in areas throughout the state has increased movement. In Central Oregon small squares of good alfalfa sold for $210 per ton for the retail/stable market. In Lake County large squares of alfalfa rated premium sold for $175 per ton for export. In Eastern Oregon large squares of fair to good alfalfa sold for $105 per ton. Klamath Basin large squares of oat rated fair to good sold for $80 per ton. In Harney County large squares of good alfalfa sold for $125 per ton.

Due to this week's Thanksgiving holiday — there will be no hay report next Monday.
