PLC Meeting to be Held in September

In early September the Public Lands Council will be holding their annual meeting in Boise. PLC Executive Director Ethan Lane says this will be a very worthwhile event for those livestock producers who utilize public grazing in their operation.

Lane: "We are working on an action packed agenda for this year's event. We will be in Boise at the Grove Hotel September 7th through the 10th. We will have our usual slate of presentations from the BLM and Forest Service — those agencies we interact with on a daily basis. We also going to do a deep dive on some issues that we know that are of critical importance to ranchers across the West. In particular the BLM is going to be doing a monitoring workshop on rangeland monitoring and what that process is going to look like moving forward. That will be a good addition this year and will give producers a chance to interact with BLM's monitoring staff and we can give them some feedback and they can tell us the direction they are wanting to head so we will be doing that."

Lane: "We will also have some discussion and presentations on some of the has underpinned the resource management plans for the sage grouse particularly those about grass height and the importance of the grass height in protecting nests during breeding seasons for sage grouse there has been some new research on that so we are going to explore that topic with the experts in the field."
