I'm Susan Allen with Washington Ag today .Our potato growers are facing earliest potato blight season in memory. If you spot blight anywhere near your Fields, Kevin Cochrane, the PNW row-crop rep for Dupont says to be proactive and be on a seven day fungicide rotation:

Corcrane: If there is late blight in the are the recommendation is to be very proactive active. Late blight is to potatos what the measles used to be prior to vaccination, it's just devastating.

What are your recommendations for our growers

Corcrane: If you've got late blight anywhere in close proximity to your crops you want to be on a seven day fungicide rotation and you want to rotate your modes of action between some of the standard products that everybody uses. Some that we would have would be TANOS® fungicide, which has a curzate componate to it which has a very good knock down for late bite spors and it has a residual component as well so it has a good residual control but it's also got a really good quick knock down component which is very important to basically stop late blight in its tracks. On top of that you probably want to mix some copper product in with that to give it a drying effect under the canopy.

And we will be sure to check in with you during this critical period for our potato growers
