Rigging Up For Kokanee
Today we have guest Doug Smith on how he's catching Kokanee.Doug "We went up there we had a 2 day campground, we just fished on Saturday, out on the water and started trolling for kokanee. Didn't take the down riggers, I just took these 2 oz. banana weights and behind that I put a flasher and then behind that a wedding ring spinner. That worked pretty good, we just landed the one, a descent one he was probably 12-13 inches. We had some pretty good hook ups, but that was the only one we got in the boat. We did catch some trout doing that same thing.."
Tom "Now Doug, I've always learned that Kokanee have some pretty soft mouths. What tactics are fellow anglers using to hook these fish?"
Doug "Ok, my neighbor he does the same thing, he does a banana weight, a flasher, and then does the flasher and then does about a 6 inch, rubber like surgical hose with a snap on either end and then he puts his spinner on behind that, anywhere between 8-10 inches in total length behind the flasher. He said the Kokanee have a real soft mouth."

A lot of people don't realize this but Kokanee are actually a landlocked sock-eye salmon. Thanks for those quick tips Doug, we really appreciate your knowledge on the sport.
