With The Agribusiness Update I'm Susan Allen. Northwest based McGregor Company, an executive partner of the National Wheat Action Plan, created a video about the objectives that has gone viral. "What a response!" said National Association of Wheat Growers President, Brett Blankenship. Blankenship has received positive comments from across the wheat growing states as well as support from Europe and Asia. Farmer-leaders of the National Association of Wheat Growers (NAWG) and the National Wheat Foundation (NWF) are developing a National Wheat Action Plan to serve as the catalyst to increase public and private wheat research and to improve wheat productivity and farmer profitability. According to the Packer Publication, cherry Exports are set to have another strong year. B.J. Thurlby, president of Northwest Cherry Growers, Yakima, said exports typically account for about 30% of the total Northwest cherry crop. Thurlby was quoted saying said there is every reason to be believe they will hit that number again — about 6 million cartons if the crop is 20 million cartons — will be exported. Asian markets should continue to be strong customers for Northwest cherries. Finally Bloomberg is reporting that Bayer is exploring a potential bid for U.S. competitor Monsanto in a deal that would create the world's largest supplier of seeds and farm chemicals .
