Weekly Cattle Review
This is Matt Rice with the Market Line Report for May 16th. Feeder and slaughter cattle prices rising, after we take a look at the week's trade. Let's go to Greg Sanders as he talks about the weekly feeder cattle summary with the USDA.Sanders "Thank you and good morning everyone. Here's the Northwest feeder cattle summary for WA, OR, and ID for Friday, May 13th 2016. This week we had 3900 head of feeder cattle trade. Compared to last Friday, feeder cattle were $6-$7 higher following the slaughter cattle prices advances this week. Feeder steers current FOB price, 900 lbs at $1.33 in Oregon, delivered price current delivery price 850-900 lbs $1.36 - $1.42 delivered into Washington and Idaho."
Chicago May Wheat prices were up 6 ½, at 466. May corn ended the week dn 3 ¼, at 384. Portland prices for soft white wheat of 10 ½ % protein for May had a mixed market, dn 4 ½ and up 6 ¾, ranging from 5-49 ¾ to 5-60. Hard Red Winter wheat with 11 ½ % protein, prices for May also had a mixed market dn 1 ¾ and up 6 ¼, ranging from 5-31 to 5-38. DNS wheat with 14 % protein, prices for May were up 5 ½ - 10 ½, ranging from 6-15 ½ to 6-40 ½. June Live Cattle closed the week up 85 cents, at 123.55. May Feeder cattle were dn 77 ½, at 147.85. June class III milk was dn 9 cents at, 12-26.
