Successful Young Cattlemen Tour

Successful Young Cattlemen Tour

In early April, both high school and college-age students participated in the Agriculture Center of Excellence and Washington Cattlemen’s Association Young Cattlemen’s Tour. Ag Center of Excellence Coordinator of Marketing and Communications Lindsey Williams shares more details of the tour.
Williams: “We ended up with about 30 people there and that was great. There were some FFA students from Lyden. We had some from Monroe. We brought some students from Walla Walla Community College and then there were several scattered across the state. We met in Ellensburg and we had the chance to go out to Trinity Farms. It was fantastic. They put on a really nice opportunity for the students to do some judging. Tyler Cox, the animal science instructor with Walla Walla Community College, walked everybody through how you would judge those animals. Then we all had some lunch out there and got to see all of their facility. Then we went to Wild Horse Wind and Solar Facility. We had a great tour. We got to go around and look at all the wind mills that they had going, the whole wind farm and got to go inside of one which was great. So a lot of good opportunities for students to take a look at natural resources as a whole.”
Williams additionally shares
Williams: “We are hoping in the future we can do this on an annual basis and have different tours every year. Really looking at what students are wanting to see and what is best received and go from there.”
