This is Matt Rice with the Market Line Report for March 21st. Demand remains strong on a national scale in live and feeder cattle. Greg Sanders explains more on the National Cattle Review with the USDA.

Sanders "National cattle slaughter review for Thursday March 17th, 2016. On Thursday, trading was at a standstill in the southern plains in Colorado. In Nebraska and the western cornbelt, trading was very limited on very light demand. In Nebraska a few early dress sales sold at $2.25, however not enough sales for a market trend. Live steers and heifers sold at $1.39-$1.41."

Chicago May Wheat ended last week up ½, at 464 even. May corn ended last week dn 1 ½, at 366 ¾. Portland prices for soft white wheat of 10 ½ % protein for March were up ½- unch, ranging from 5-33 to 5-38. Hard Red Winter wheat with 11 ½ % protein, prices for March were dn 1 ¼, ranging from 5-39 ½ to 5-49 ½. DNS wheat with 14 % protein, prices for March were dn ¾, ranging from 5-99 to 6-09 even. April Live Cattle closed last week dn $1.32 ½, at 139.37 ½. March Feeder cattle were dn 50 cents, at 163.37 ½. April class III milk was up 30 cents, at 13-93.
