I talked with CJ Buck, CEO/Chairman of Buck Knives about the whole principle of opening a pocket knife. Buck knives has made it so simple to get the blade out in the open. What people used to carry 40 years ago, was a multi bladed pocket knife in their pocket. Now that has kind of evolved into these single blade, locking clip knives. We may have a number of different style. Do you any spring open? We call those assisted openers. We make a family of assisted opening knives where you push the blade partially the way open and the spring engages inside the blade and opens it up the rest of the way. We also make a fully automatic where you push the button and the blade opens up. Those are not legal in all states. You have to pay close attention to what state you live in but the assisted openers are legal in all 50 states. I remember in West side story a guy pulled out a stiletto. That was 1957 and they enacted the Federal switchblade act. They made it illegal to use the post office to ship a switchblade and made it unlawful to sell a switchblade across state lines except to a bona fide dealer.
