House To Vote on WOTUS Resolution of Disapproval

The U.S. House of Representatives will vote on the Waters of the US or WOTUS resolution of disapproval this week. National Cattlemen's Beef Association Vice President of Government Affairs Colin Woodall says it is important for Congress to act on this issue

Woodall: "Producers really need to understand that this stay is temporary so while it is providing us a little relief it is not relief that we can rely upon. In order to make sure we take this away and protect producers and make sure that EPA can't come on your land, Congress has to act and they have to stop this rule. This motion or effort to do this resolution of resolution of disapproval is one step in the overall process but there is more that Congress is going to do ultimately win because the last thing we want is for this to linger in the courts to four or five years and ultimately leave our entire fate to a decision that could go as high as the Supreme Court."

Stopping WOTUS will continue to be a priority for agriculture.

Woodall: "We need to make sure that the president takes full ownership of this issue. If the House and Senate both pass this resolution of disapproval which we expect, the president will have to think long and hard about his next actions and to understand that he is getting a very clear signal from Congress that the actions that EPA has taken so far have been the wrong ones."
