Northwest Farm Credit Services is looking to honor Northwest leaders in agriculture who impact their industries and rural communities and they just might win a hefty cash prize. Jennifer Rohrer is the Media Relations Coordinator for NW Farm Credit Services.
ROHRER: Farm Credit is celebrating 100 years this year and with that 100 year celebration they want to honor ten ag leaders from throughout the United States and those ten ag leaders will get a trip to Washington DC to celebrate with the Farm Credit Centennial Celebration and also $10-thousand dollars for all their work in their community.
And she talks about how you can have a chaconne to win the national Farm Credit Fresh Perspectives campaign.
ROHRER: They can apply online. It's www.farmcredit100.com/fresh and the entries need to be in by December 18th. It's really easy though. All you do is fill out your name and address and that sort of information and then you write a small essay, 2000-word essay on why either you or someone else in your community deserves this award. There are ten different categories. Everything from leadership to sustainability to financial stewardship and rural and urban connection.
Rohrer says even though it's fun, it's also important.
ROHRER: Farmers and ranchers and those folks in the community especially those small rural communities do so much every single day to promote agriculture, to help people understand what agriculture is all about to promote their livelihood and this is just a way to give back to those farmers and ranchers and those community members who give their all every single day.
