Tree Fruit Meeting

Tree Fruit Meeting

Tree Fruit Meeting. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report.

This years annual tree fruit meeting will mark not only the 111th meeting but also a major change. It will be the first ever meeting as the Washington State Tree Fruit Association. Stephanie Chance is the Communications Director.

CHANCE: It's going to be the same great content and same structure that we've had before. Our planning committee put together a theme for this year and the theme is "Growing Forward: Solutions for Current and Future Challenges." We have a great lineup. On Monday is our main session. We have no other concurrent sessions going on and we're going to be spending the morning talking about the economics, the marketing. Just everything within our industry.

This years meeting will be December 7th, 8th and 9th at the Yakima Convention Center. She says they will spend one whole afternoon talking about water.

CHANCE: Water is a big hot topic right now and so we have a good lineup more on a local terms of what we can do with our drought situation.

As always, the trade show will be held at the Yakima SunDome.

CHANCE: We are going to have shuttles running every 15 minutes from the convention center down to the trade show and we're actually going to hold a session in the SunDome Monday afternoon that will include great information on internships and also another hot topic right now is the piece-rate ruling and there's going to be speakers both on the accounting side of things and on the legal side of things for piece-rate.

You can register online or give them a call.
