New Pear Website. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report.

Change is in the air...or more precisely, on the web as USA Pears has unveiled a new web presence for consumers. Kathy Stephenson, Marketing Communications Director for USA Pears talks about the change.

STEPHENSON: We've had a terrific website for years and it is the worlds largest website dedicated to pears. So in order to keep on that same successful track for us it was time to make some changes. One of the most important changes was to adapt the site so that it would have what is called a responsive design which means no matter what the size of screen you're using whether it's a smartphone or tablet or desktop, the design actually shrinks and expands based on that.

Current content is also key.

STEPHENSON: We were realty striving to make content changes quickly and easily so we moved to a new software that allows us to be very current and newsworthy when we're adding information and recipes and great ideas and it's beautiful

She talks about what brings people to the site.

STEPHENSON: Our biggest opportunity is to share recipes and kit so that is the chief effort on our strategy for our website. We are bringing people from our social media, we're bringing people directly from search engines to look up recipes so keeping that fresh and easy to browse is very important.
