Time to Scout Wheat Fields

Time to Scout Wheat Fields

As temperatures rise and winter wheat breaks dormancy, it is important for wheat growers keep a close eye on their crops to identify early signs of disease that may reduce grain quality and yield potential. Being proactive and timely with scouting and product applications will help keep pests at bay and profit potential high.
Syngenta Ag Agronomist Don Drader shares more
Drader: “It is a great time for growers and their fieldmen to be out there scouting early and looking for disease out there in their fields. A lot of those winter wheat fields are probably already at the stage that it has been sprayed with their herbicides and possible fungicides. But their spring wheats — again — they need to take a strong look at those while they are out scouting for weeds and look at any potential disease that may be showing up in those fields — specifically we are looking for rust or maybe septoria or diseases like that. So when they are out there looking they need to be looking at which fungicide would fit their needs. I think that with the broad spectrum of Quilt XL would pretty much cover the needs that they have out there. It is going to take care of their rust out there and also give them activity on diseases like septoria. It can also fit their herbicide application timing.”
