Thank a Veteran for Their Service

Happy Veteran’s Day — hopefully you are taking some time today to at least reflect on the many sacrifices our country’s veterans have made. Perhaps attending a Veteran’s Day program or at the very least thanking a Vet personally.
The Farmer Veteran Coalition gives veterans the opportunity to get involved in the industry and helps them craft a future in agriculture. Coalition board member Charlie Kruse says the veterans involved are grateful for the opportunities
Kruse: “It’s really heart warming to hear some of the stories they tell about being able to getting involved in agriculture. I think it is not only a good thing for our veterans and it’s something that we absolutely ought to do but it is also good for agribusiness and production agriculture because there is always a need to have really good quality people on your team and in your workforce.”
The mission of the Farmer Veteran Coalition is to mobilize veterans to feed America. Kruse says it’s a natural fit for agriculture to partner with those coming off of active duty.
Kruse: “We’ve got veterans returning to small communities all over this country. Based on my experience in the military and interactions with people in the military, I believe these people possess the skills and the traits that can really contribute in a positive way.
