Incrementally Higher Wheat Markets

I’m KayDee Gilkey with the Market Line Report for October 6, 2014.
There were incrementally higher prices in the wheat markets on Friday. With last week’s regional cattle market update, here is USDA Grain and Livestock Reporter Greg Sanders
Sanders: “Northwest direct cattle receipts were 5600 head this week compared to last week. Feeder cattle were steady to firm. Trade was moderate with good demand. Corn futures prices hit a five-year low this week. For current delivery, 700 to 750 pound steers sold from $235 to $255. 900 pound steers for current delivery FOB at $218. Feeder heifers for current delivery FOB, 700 pounds sold from $228 to $245. And 800 to 850 pound heifers sold at $212.”
Chicago December Wheat ended Friday up 3 cents at 4-85 and 3/4. December corn ended the day up a 1/2 cent at 3-23 and 1/4.
Portland prices for soft white wheat were up 2 and 3/4 to 3 cents at mostly 6-61 and 1/4. White club wheat prices were up a 1/4 of a cent to 3 cents at mostly 8-92 and 1/2. Hard Red Winter wheat with 11.5 percent protein prices were up 6 and 1/2 cents at mostly 7-20. DNS wheat with 14 percent protein prices were up 8 cents at mostly 8-38 and 1/2.
December live cattle were down 55 cents on Friday at 165-87 and half. November Feeder cattle were up 90 cents at 240-97 and half. November class III milk was up 44 cents at 21-74.
