More and more people are moving to rural country. Regardless of where they’re from or where they’re moving, the transition can be difficult. In Benewah County, Idaho, locals have combined efforts to help newcomers understand their way. It is called code of the new West. “I’m Del Rust, current president of the Benewah County Farm Bureau and this project we are visiting with you about today covers a broad spectrum of the county infrastructure, what services are available either private or public and is an explanation of what our culture is in this county so that people have a better understanding of what to expect before they ever come here. What makes Benewah County work and what to expect when they come here and think they would like to buy property here.” The county looked to a seasoned veteran for leadership. “I am Stan McNutt and I have about 45 years experience as a city and County administrator in Idaho and Washington and originally I came in contact with this concept in Blaine County, Sun Valley area, and it is so good that I have carried it with me since. Benewah County still is what America once was and people would like to preserve that. It is to help new people assimilate with facts, not promoting, but with facts so that they can assimilate into being residents of Benewah County.
