PNW Student Serves on National Student Advisory Team

Washington State University sophomore Jenica Hagler from Kuna, Idaho, has recently been selected as one of nine Student Advisory Team members for Agriculture Future of America. The AFA is a leader and professional development organization for collegiate leaders and young professionals.Hagler shares the value of being involved with AFA. Hagler: “I think the most important thing is that it is unlike anything else that collegiate students can be involved that are interested in agriculture. The access to the industry professionals, the access to the students all across the country majoring in agriculture is just unbelievable. The high quality of speakers, staff and students — everyone who is present is really encouraging and it is inspiring to see that the future of the ag industry is in really good hands.” Hagler and the eight other team members were selected through a competitive application process to serve as AFA’s student voice and represent their peers on a national level. Hagler says she is looking forward to her experiences with the team. If you or a college student you know is interested in learning more, she says
Hagler: “Another really, really good resource that anybody can access is the website which is agfuture.org. There you can get information about scholarships, sponsorships, leadership conferences.”She credits networking through the AFA assisting her in getting her summer internship with Northwest Farm Credit Services.
