Rock Island Pool Irrigators

Rock Island Pool Irrigators

Rock Island Pool Irrigators. I'm Greg Martin with today's Fruit Grower Report.

The crack in the Wanapum Dam has had some far reaching impacts. Irrigators from further north near Wenatchee have been feeling the pinch as well. The Chelan County PUD has sent a letter to irrigators and well users. Lacy Gray has more on this.

GRAY: In the letter the Chelan County PUD asked irrigators and well users on the Rock Island reservoir to test their pumping equipment to determine if potentially low river levels would impact them this year. Chelan PUD continues to work with the agencies that control Columbia River flows to secure certainty about river levels this year. Chelan County PUD deactivated the Emergency Action Plan for Rocky Reach Dam. The EAP remains in effect at Rock Island Dams. This action originally was prompted on March 2 in order to alert emergency responders and the public that the two Chelan County PUD dam reservoirs on the Columbia River will be operated below normal licensed minimums.

Thanks Lacy. The situation has stabilized for Rocky Reach Dam. However, due to the low Wanapum Dam reservoir levels, it is necessary to continue this emergency response at Rock Island. Chelan County PUD continues with an Incident Command Structure to focus attention on issues such as fish passage and irrigation. If you have any questions be sure and contact the PUD.

That's today's Fruit Grower Report. I'm Greg Martin on the Ag Information Network.
