Idaho’s livestock industry and Idaho’s sportsmen make contributions in order to compliment a one-time appropriation proposed by Governor C.L. “Butch” Otter, intended for the Idaho Wolf Depredation Control Board over the next five years to control Idaho’s wolves.”We support it 100% and we are fully behind the legislation. We applaud the Legislature for passing it and over and above that, we applaud the Gov. for including all interested parties and laying out a plan and a path forward. I don’t want to go all physiological on you Wyatt but we know from humans that when they are under stress they produce stress hormones such as cortisol. In one of your newsletters you say that tells witnessing wolf attacks go through symptoms such as PTSD. How is that measured? There has been extensive research done on the effects of stress on cattle and livestock, that’s why we have invested so much money as an industry into animal handling practices and training for employees as well as technology to make us better at handling those animals to reduce the stress. Stress is the number one limiting factor and livestock. We have found this time and time again not only through research trials but anecdotal evidence and experience and we try to limit stress to every extent possible.
