2014 marks the 5th year of the America's Farmers Mom of the Year program - sponsored by Monsanto. Monsanto Corporate Marketing Communications Director Jessica Simmons says the program is meant to highlight and showcase the role women play in agriculture. Simmons says Monsanto supports America's farmers overall - but realizes women in the ag industry aren't recognized very often: "It is so gratifying to receive a nomination and we typically share those with anyone who is interested. It is fun to see what their children wrote about them or their neighbor. It's always good to hear that you are appreciated but I think the other thing that is really exciting about this is if you win one of our regional awards you will receive $5000 and then the national farm mom receives $10,000 so there is a little bit of money involved but it is intended to celebrate and honor women."

The America's Farmers Mom of the Year program is focused on women who work in agriculture for a living - Simmons says - from livestock to row crops and more. "They do so much on farms as well as in their communities as far as 4-H and FFA and those types of things. We want to make sure that they get recognized as well." Simmons says nominating someone is simple. Just go to Americas Farmers dot com - fill out a 300 words or less nomination form - and click submit. Nominations are being accepted now until March 31st
