Everyone knows that apples are good for you. The folks with Pink Lady America are aiming their advertising at those health benefits according to spokesman, Alan Taylor.

TAYLOR: There's been something called the apple diet around for some time now and the focus on that really is that you eat an apple before a meal and you fill up with something that is good for you and you're less likely to overindulge when you sit down for the meal and we're now looking at a generation that they call millennial's who are getting more into health and they're snackers. They don't always sit down for a formal meal.

Taylor says they tend to have an uphill battle when it comes to promoting apples.

TAYLOR: These days you're going up against products that aren't necessarily healthy that have a large budget so we're always looking for a way to take a small budget and maximize it. These days a lot of people are walking for health and we think it's kind of a neat combination to do a program called "Take a Pink Lady for a Walk." It's a convenient product which everyone is into these days, a good snack and you can enjoy it while you are walking and getting more healthy.

Valentine's Day once again involved a big promotional push for the Pink Lady apple.

TAYLOR: The Valentine's Day period was very big for us and the movement continues to be very good after that. That was theme, give something that was healthy and makes them feel good, makes you feel good and then take a Pink Lady for a walk and take your loved one for a walk.
