I had a great chat with Chad Dickinson from the Treasure Valley Beekeepers Club: “it is just a private, nonprofit education group where we meet once a month and try to open up the doors to anyone who wants to learn more about these and becoming a beekeeper. We have lots of people who have been beekeepers for years that still come. It is an year to the ground so that we can help get the word out about what is new and what is coming and what is going on around the Valley. This is the time of year when people are starting to think about becoming beekeepers. A lot of the time when people are starting to want to do bees and the bees are starting to fly, you do not have time to put together all of the equipment to become a beekeeper. We are also getting the word out to people about spraying their pesticides and insecticides in the neighborhoods… Don't spray the bees please… In the commercial industry when it comes to huge fruit orchards, they have classes that they have to go to to learn when and how they can apply the pesticides and insecticides but for the common Joe in the public that goes down to the hardware store and picks up some insecticides and pesticides, the instructions are almost like legal documents and impossible to read so they just mix it up the way they tell them to end glowed into their yard and start spraying.
