Wheat Market Gains Back Some of Wednesday's Losses

I'm KayDee Gilkey with the Market Line Report for January 17, 2014.

March corn ended slightly higher and Chicago wheat took back part of Wednesday's 11-cent loss with help from its own bullish export news. From the floor of the CME Group, Larry Shover shares his observations of Thursday's markets.

Shover: "Well the grain markets today, Thursday - slow but not without a lot of drama. On to wheat - wow what a wild last couple of days. After being down 7 to 11 cents yesterday bounces back higher -- right now at the close wheat up about 4 on the day. Right now it is reported that both South Korea and Bangladesh are tendering optional origin wheat as we speak. USDA report came out 401,900 metric tons."

Chicago March Wheat ended Thursday up a nickel at 5-72 and 3/4. March corn ended the day up 2 and 1/4 cents at 4-28.??Portland prices for soft white white were up 5 to 15 cents at mostly 6-79 and 1/2. White club wheat prices were up 10 to 15 cents at mostly 7-12 and 3/4. Hard Red Winter wheat with 11.5 percent protein prices were up 14 cents at mostly 7-59 and 1/2. DNS wheat with 14 percent protein prices were up a dime at mostly 8-74.

?February live cattle were up 72 and half cents Thursday at 140-15. March Feeder cattle were up 22 and half cents at 168-25. February class III milk was up 75 cents at 21-79.
